This was a really fun read better than the story book collection she did I think Well the story book collection is wonderful but this one is for the older readers It's mostly not in color but it has an actual story Plus we get the origin of the Scary Godmother I've seen both movie and really liked them at the time Kind of wish after reading this volume there was a TV show or Scary Godmother

; and • Scary Godmother and her friends are cheerful and reassuring and their message is that monsters are really very nice once you get to know them School Library Journal• Jill Thompson's Scary Godmother is another of this comics maestro's knockout punches Frank Miller Sin City. While I've never read the Scary Godmother series before I was pleased to discover that I'd seen Thompson's work before via the Fables Sandman series She's got an incredibly playful touch that worked well with both series I was delighted to be able to review this book for NetgalleyThere's a lot to love about this comic book For starters you don't have to have read the book series to understand what's going on so if like me you haven't seen the SG series before you won't have any problem figuring out what's what who's who The artwork is easily one of the best parts of this book with Thompson doing a very good job of capturing the playful natures of her charactersWhat I really loved about the book was how dark the stories would occasionally get Parents don't worry it doesn't get that dark although if you're truly worried you can always sit read this with your kids There's nothing here that the average child or teen won't already be seeing on Cartoon Network This hopefully won't deter people from getting this will hopefully bring in a few of the older readers since this really has an incredibly wide appealI do recommend reading this in smaller gulps than I did This was very fun to read but I'll admit that a little goes a long way There's a lot of wackyness in here as such can be a little much all at once But I couldn't stop reading so that says something for the addictiveness of this read4 out of 5 starsARC provided by Netgalley

Scary Godmother Comic Book StoriesPlot This comic book contained the stories “My Bloody Valentine” “The Search for Mister Boogey legs” “Wild About Harry” “Ghouls out for Summer” “Short Stories and Activity Book” and “Sketch Book”My Thoughts This wasn’t what I expected I found this when simply typing in “Halloween” on the search bar on readcomicsonline I needed something light and easy to read in my goal to read as many October things as I could but this was neither light well the content was and it definitely wasn’t easy to get through Similarly to Monster’s Inc I liked the concept of this little girl finding a land dedicated to Halloween on the other side of her door Some of the stories I liked I liked “My Bloody Valentine” because it showed that sometimes you only think you want something different but when you get out there and see what’s out there how uickly you will change your mind And that’s a WORD for you I enjoyed “Ghouls out for Summer” That one gives us a VERY interesting background on Scary Godmother’s school years And showed that she’s part fairy part witch But “Wild About Harry” dragged on for way too long and parts of it completely lost me Something about hunters I’m not going to even tire my brain out to contemplate that part The illustrations were done pen and ink style They were whimsical but I would have preferred them in color Then in the middle of the stories it would jump to the characters giving recipes The recipes were fun but it just didn’t feel well placed to interrupt the story and jump into a “cooking segment” Thus a lot of times I just wanted to get back to and through the story Making it harder than I wanted it to get through this comic Rating 6
