This review has been crossposted from my blog at The Cosy Dragon Please head there for in depth reviews by me which appear on a timely scheduleThere was action and romance right from the word go in this novel I loved it The climax at the end was really great too Yay The only point against it which wasn't really a bad point was that I didn't realise it was part of a series and I was wanting some sort of conclusion that wasn't comingKat was endearing to me as a character I enjoyed hearing about things from her perspective Sometimes she didn't seem all too bright and I didn't follow what she was thinking but the rest of the time it was fine And surely some of that was from when she was in shockThe romance sort of thing was really good Kat wasn't really sure who she was being attracted to the most and why and then the betrayal she feels is just great Well not great for her but great for my reading experienceI loved the cover I'm pretty sure Kat never wore a dress like that but she'd be going for one if she did She does look pretty amazing if a little old presuming that is her on the front coverI finished this novel and was filled with great things to say about it and then I promptly didn't get time to write them all down for a couple of days so this review is a bit skimpy by my usual standards It was super enjoyable though and I would recommend it for sureI'd recommend this novel to teenagers who are just moving into the paranormal and fantasy genres as well as those who already enjoy it Yay Five stars from me and I can't wait to get my hands on the other books in the series

They say the truth can set you free I found out it can kill youSeventeen year old Kat Matheson has never revealed the dark secret that sets her apart from everyone else She can see and hear the dead Until now she has been able to ignore the strange apparitions and whispering voices But it may not be that simple any Haunted by ee. Overview Reckoning caught me off guard It’s labelled as a paranormal story so I wasn’t prepared for how creepy certain scenes were Along with the intense descriptions I was completely blown away by this debut novel I love horror and I love paranormal so when the two mix together as seamlessly as they did in this novelI’m in bliss The author portrays what scares Kat so clearly that it gave ME goosebumps I also liked how the narrative in the novel wasn’t “dumbed down” simply because it was told from a teenage point of view The music preferences of the characters do make the novel feel dated late 90s although when I went to high school those were exactly the bands I listened to so I didn’t mindPlotCharacters Kat has visions of dead people and these visions are getting harder and harder to hide Her mother tries to hook Kat up with the cute new neighbor but he gives Kat the creeps No Kat rather fantasize about hooking up with Rick who she’s too terrified to talk to despite her huge crush I really enjoyed Kat Although she sees visions she really does act and worry like the average teenager She’s concerned about buying a car finding a boyfriend and spending time with her best friend Rachel Rachel is a pretty kick ass best friend She’s spunky and bubbly but not annoyingly so Lovell is definitely a creepy neighbor but I he has a very seductive side to him He’s like a younger and sexier version of Hannibal Lector only he doesn’t eat people At least I don’t think he does For those who don’t see the sex appeal of Hannibal this comparison between the two guys might be lostEnding I like the intensity of the ending What I didn’t like was how uestions were raised just as fast as my original uestions were being answered I’m disappointed that book two isn’t released yet I have a suspicion about Rachel that I REALLY want to know if it is true or not Now I have to go hunt someone else down that has read the book to figure out if anyone else picked up on these “hints” and to compare theories on book two Because you knowI will definitely be reading book twoI liked the book so much that I purchased a copy for my mom immediately after finishing my review copy She’s a school teacher and this will be perfect for her paranormal loving school kids I received my review copy as part of the blog tour in exchange for my honest review
