A fresh startIt’s been three years since Serena King learned to say no no to the boys that were a desperate cry for help no to the extra weight she put on in self defense and most of all no to the abuse that has haunted her since she was fifteen Now a sopho in college all she wants is to be normal The last thing she expects is a guy who can make her wan Meh I though I would love this one It hits all my buttons abused heroine troubled hero saved by loved etc but I just wasn't feeling it Somehow Alex had this psychic thing going on where he just knew the right way to deal with Serena before he even new what her issues were I actually kept expecting it to come out that he knew somehow because he was just too perfectly careful with her pretty much from the moment they met We don't really get to know anything about Alex except as it deals with his past You know he plays football but you never meet any of his friends outside of the ones attached to his past You get the bare bones version of his story but no explanation as to how he ended up in the situation he did or what he's been doing in college or what he's planning on doing after college You know slightly abut Serena but not much And most if that is her BFF who is gong to be the h in the next bookThen there are then I love you's which are said after I think three dates The climax of the story where Serena confronts her past was confusing All the sudden psychic Alex can't figure out from context who the problem is which was baffling I also couldn't figure out why Serena was holding ut with that last piece if the puzzle after she revealed everything else Then there was Serena's inexplicable reaction to Alex after she confronts her past and the eually unexplained and abrupt reconciliation Just didn't work for me

Love Me for Me Safe Haven #1 Book Ð 228 pages í A fresh startIt’s been three years since Serena King learned to say no—no to the boys that were a desperate cry for help no to the extra weight she put on in self defense and most of all no to the abuse that has haunted her since she was fifteen Now a sopho in college all she wants Involved in a relationship but Alex makes her long for things she thought were out of her reach forever When he finds out her secret when he finds out what she did to keep herself sane will he still want her or he will treat her just like everyone else? And Alex has a secret of his ownRecommended for mature readers aged 17 due to language and sexual conten The romance genre has a few recipes that are tried and true They are mass produced with different covers characters names and writing styles Many people do not mind as those stories move them to tears every time However I’m one of those people whose tear ducts adapt and build up resistance over time That and my critical personality are all God’s gifts so gentle readers don’t get riled up and please understand that I’m but a common reviewer while continue reading thisGeez that sounds tense Now with a upbeat tone As I’ve said Tried and true Mass produced You get the idea So when dealing with these books I go with my standard marking criteria that is Convince me Sadly as you can see this book does not Now dear fans of this novel if you want you can jump straight down and see my recommendation of books that pull off identical plots but if you want to continue reading please do not bombard me with insultsThis novel? In a word decent The plot is over used The phrases of description are over repeated The typos are uite many However I’m always willing to look past these ‘newbies’ mistakes and focus on the story Makes life easier So these are the sort of pros of these booksi The characters make sense I wouldn’t have put this as a point before reading Jennifer Echols’s book I don’t know if it’s her writing or her characters but I can never fully be on the same wavelength with that author There’s awesome weird then there’s plain traditional weird weird I’m happy to say this book doesn’t fall in either categoryii The characters are very lovablePlease note that I put the very as I’m still not exactly sure whether it can be counted as a pro For one thing it’s good for reader’s heart condition of course Don’t want anybody having a heart attack from frustration But then again this author is rather playing safe and with such a safe plot already I find myself reluctant to commend on the author’s semi cowardice heart condition or notWith that being said I do urge the author to polish up because as aforementioned the mistakes she made are uite amateur like but from the number of books I’ve seen under her name she is not exactly a novice Lastly I would just like to point out a few major errors that make the book less than stellar i The way Serena keeps talking to herself is annoyingly amusing There are usually paragraphs after paragraphs where she repeats the same thing in her head before she replies Alex Imagine if she really is thinking all those things while conversingAlex “Do you want to go out?” thinking about my past thinking about why he wants to ask me out thinking about what my mum would say thinking about my past some blah blah blah No my past don’t have power over meSerena “Okay”I applaud Alex for his attention span I would’ve totally checked out long agoii I was all waiting for Brett to make an appearance and ruin it for Serena Buthe just messes things up with Molly that eventually un messes itself Such happy thoughts Stephenie Meyer will approve of thisiii Serena going to pick the vase No she didn’t run to the door She goes to a room When she knows a person wants to rape her When she knows her boyfriend who will help her is outside the door Her idiocy isn’t even needed to keep the story going It is so redundant it’s disgustingiv Again with the vase Someone needs to teach that girl some super duper basic self defense When someone wants to rape you get a stick a broom or in her case a vase Knock him over the head Her reaction is so ridiculous she should’ve knocked herself outv What happened to the girl Alex was with at the bar in the end?So as promised here are some books that pull off identical plots Sometimes NeverEleanor Park The Dark Light of Day
