I was rather charmed by this Unlike so many Regencies it wasn't full of glaring errors or excessive busom heaving and most of the settings and events read appropriately for the time period The heroine is a complete ninnyhammer but likeable for all that and she is understood by all the rest of the characters so the reader is invited to share their frustration with her self blindness All the characters including the secondary ones were genuinely nicely depicted though none of them were incredibly original additions to the genre There were places where I thought it could do with a little editing such as when Louisa recaps to her sister everything that has already happened and the reader knows about surely unnecessary to write it all out However at the end of the day I like the way the author writes and she has a grasp on the period and on character and I read this in one go without being frustrated or bored which freuently happens when reading historical romances There's a good chance I will read by her

I really loved the heroine and I believe most readers who rate this book so low missed her irony
