When her husband drops dead Joan is left unable to cope in a world she no longer understands Her late husband had hidden the truth Delayed reading this book as both my mother and father in law dipped into dementia in the last few weeks with me caring for them This is a very well written and sensitive account of a long slow descent into Alzheimer's Having had a nursing background I had had experience of looking after patients with Alzheimer's but nothing prepares you for the daunting task of caring for loved ones struck by the disease Having worked in Nursing Homes for ten years I knew that bad apples existed within the ranks but personally I was impressed with the nursing care teams where I worked I found that there was perhaps too much minute detail about the care plans employed by the author but overall an outstanding account of what it is like to navigate a course towards as much uality of life as possible for a loved one
