I received this book for free through goodreads giveaways I enjoyed this book than I thought I would I entered the giveaway because I liked the cover and had just come back from living up north for the past 10 years and was feeling nostalgicThis is my first review so I'm not sure what to write I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say that I haven't read any of the other books in this series but I still felt like I knew the main characters The characters are likeable and I was immediately drawn in from the first chapter The author has an effortless style of writing that is extremely pleasant and easy to read

The story resumes some months after the events of Scalding Deceit with Hicks and Louis temporarily not together The separation is not doing either of them much good sail without boat boat without sail but they are not suffering eually Hicks is just kind of aimless and and slobby whereas Baker has gone a bit off the railsI'm not giving away anything that can't be guessed from the book cover when I tell you that circumstances conspire to bring them separately to Alaska where a mystery is afoot The sense of place evoked by the author's description of place and people is exceptional You feel immersed in small town Alaska without it must be said being inspired to visit the North Pole tourist bureau is unlikely to endorse this novelAs with the previous books in the series the writing moves along at a strong pace with no dull stretches And again the characters we meet are interesting and well developed Do Hicks and Baker get their mojo back Is the mystery solved Well I am certainly not about to tell you
