I'm definitely the outlier here most of the people I am friends with andor follow who have read this book came to a very different conclusion than I did At best they seemed to tolerate it while I seemed to have rather enjoyed myself with this bookWas my knowledge of how others thought of the book impact me in any way Considering I confused myself and thought I was reading a different book I picked up 2 different books via Kindle Unlimited accidentally thought I was reading the other one when I marked it 'reading' on here but had been reading this one here no I had no clue what others thought of this book until I completed it hehThis is one of those books wherein I can give a very rough vague 'this is what occurs' but only up to about half way and what I would say would be necessarily wrong There very much is a crap I forgot the phrase now Unreliable narrator Not because the main character is trying to lie to others or to themself but because they do not have the memories they need to properly know the full story of their own life Three years before the start of this book famous author Selene McAlister was in a horrible car accident The accident took her ability to write in the 'took her muse' kind of way made it difficult for her to walk she needs a cane made it difficult to live without drugs and took away her self confidence about her body her body is covered with scars etc and she doesn't think anyone would want her now The book opens with Selene depressingly starring at the ocean packing up her beloved beach house that she can no longer afford she's an author she lost her ability to write she has now run out of money plus all the debts from the accident etc She's going to moving in with her 'hippie' mother Marion there's reasons why she calls her mother by her first name in the small town Selene attempted to escape from something like 20 years ago she's 40 nowMost of the beginning of the book is from Selene's point of view and as I noted she is an unreliable narrator A few other point of views poke in here or there though well at least Marion's thoughts poke there way in in the beginning half of the book In terms of POV other important characters include Selene's fellow small town survivor and best friend growing up Amy Fontaine Amy gets some control of the POV in the second half of the book But I cannot really say much about what unfolds from her point of view nor about anything that happens after she pops up physically in the book For reasonsI found this book difficult to stop reading and 'enjoyed' might be the wrong word to use liked that I got to read itRating 467August 18 2018

A breathtaking readWow what a breathtaking read It touched my heart in every possible way The pain the desperation the love all the emotions felt so real The characters have so much depth and intensity Now I can’t get them out of my mind A story that kept me turning the pages late into the night The photobook the introduction the letter they were another highly touching moments Oh boy I wish I could see that photobook The story is beautifully and movingly written and I can't find words that do justice to this book of this caliber It is so worth the wait and I can't recommend it highly enough

summary Healing Springs

Healing SpringsType to let Selene retreat from life and succumb to self pity not if she has anything to say in that matter Maybe that’s why Amy was the last person Selene wanted to see when she returned to Healing Springs Fortunately for Selene her friends and family were having none of it They would find a way to reach Selene and show her that she still had worthand in Amy’s casethat she was still worthy of love This novel is dedicated to all the strong women out there that wake up every day and struggle with disabilities both visible and invisible Your fight is what inspired this novel You ladies rock Loosely based on the short story The Potter’s Wheel. Curiouser and CuriouserOh how I loved this book I adore stories with a touch of the supernatural and this book teased so well I found the tale captivating mesmerizing compelling and than a bit mystifying Even though I wanted to race to see where the story would take me I also had a need to go slowly so I could savour each and every wordI could totally relate to Selene My pain while not as drastic as hers still at times makes me bitter angry and in too much agony to deal with day to day activities I can understand her frustration I also find myself angry with the forces that brought me to this new reality Its nice to read about a lead character who is so much like me less than whole physically This book is beautiful and haunting sweet and harsh and full of things that will make you think It is a wonder and I feel richer in spirit for reading it
