Blackie By Stephen DownStephen Downes never much liked cats But one day his sons Patrick and Benny find three kittens at the bottom of the garden The strays soon become part of the familyStephen falls in love with Blackie a confident friendly cat who keeps him company while he's working and tak This book was a reread for a reading challenge This is a book that I've promised myself about to never read it agai because I was so mad and sad at some points in the story But as it goes with books sometimes there's one that keeps on entering your head until you've read or reread it WIth this one it was the case too but I was warned about the difficult parts The author Stephen Downes and his family were not used to having pets guine pigs dogs fishThey didn't last but then there came 2 stray cats Fluffy and Blackie and Blackie stole Stephen's heart Everything went well until the a cold hit him when he was 8 years old Then it got from bad to worse At some point I couldn't agree any with Stephen's decisions and at the most critical point he got to far These are the points I'm not spoiling them you can discover them four yourself where I got mad the first timeAfter rereading the book and especially the beatiful afterword I could understand it where the desicions came from and you could feel the guilt and the shame of the author through the book I understood why but can't agree on it On the other hand I knew there's a chance that I'll do the same for my cat horseto cure them I went that path before with good results But it could all go so wrong and then you've got to know that enough is enough and place yourself in the animalOn a sidenote I've found the explenations on the surgery diagnosticsreally interestingSo if you planning on reading the book beware it's not moonlight and roses and sunshine and you will need your box of tissues but you will read the true story about Stephen and Blackie and his pawprints that he left behind on Stephen's heart He was a very curagious and friendly cat
