No One Is Too Small to Make a Difference Ebook ô 68 pages Ö The history making ground breaking speeches of Greta Thunberg the young activist who has become the voice of a generation'Everything needs to change And it has to start today'In August 2018 a fifteen year old Swedish girl Greta Thunberg decided not to go to schooCollecting her speeches that have made history across Europe from the UN to mass street protests No One Is Too Small to Make A Difference is a rallying cry for why we must all wake up and fight to protect the living planet no matter how powerless we feel Our future depends upon Unpopular opinion alert I absolutely hated this little book It is a collection of Greta’s speeches but they are all extremely dull to read and various paragraphs are repeated over and over in different speeches This does not mean I find her uninspiring or that I don’t believe in climate change I 1000% do But this book is absolutely not the way to go if you want to convince people of your cause There is background info missing which I guess you wouldn’t have time to explain during a speech but since this is a book it would have made it much interesting if we got background info on the claims she is making and the locationsbackground info on the speeches themselves eg telling the readers a little about the situation and why she was going to speech at a certain location and why that day etcI don’t recommend this book at all Don’t give this to climate skeptics and don’t give this to people that are on the fence this will not convince them of the realness or the urgency of the problem unfortunately

Book Î No One Is Too Small to Make a Difference Ê Greta Thunberg

Tions ended up sparking a global movement for action against the climate crisis inspiring millions of pupils to go on strike for our planet forcing governments to listen and earning her a Nobel Peace Prize nominationThis book brings you Greta in her own words for the first time Not impressedRating We start at 5 stars6 stars I give it an extra star for the author's devotion to nature 1 star young age 1 star determination 1 star mental illness 1 star another 1 star so that she wouldn't cry or sulk or whatever she does to terrorize her parents and for everything else that I couldn't give a damn to care to remember or list 1 star 1 star for repetitiveness 1 star for no solutions suggested 1 star for boring writing as she isn't 8 to write so simply 1 star for further polluting the world with creating trash during her protests using that ludicrous boat to travel with 2 sailor teams that fly to and fro and trains and everything 1 star for lies This is not a political text c Of freaking course it is 1 star for this alleged book not being a book but a pamphlet with some rants 1 star for preaching to the choir We know that all of this is going to hell in a handbasket We just don't know how to stop it 1 star for wrongly stating that we have all solutions today And at another point rambling about 'thinking cathedrally' We don't have all the necessary solutions in place and we are already uite 'cathedral thinking' thank you so much 1 star for wrongly choosing the auditory The influencers and politicians and random public are not the people that actually can do something It's not about Trump being difficult or Merkel being lazy or some influencer evangelist Nico or Mary or whoever from I don't care where influencing people about lipstick and shoes instead of climate change It's the scientists who should catch the ball not about being alarmist but rather about having solutions We don't have all the necessary tech clean energy wasteless processes zero footprint food etc invented and implemented Almost nothing today is zero carbon footprint no matter what the scientists might claim 1 star for being illiterate and subjecting public to her illiterate rants about stuff way above Greta's very limited skills Going to school and getting some education to be able to actually do something useful might be a way to remedy this how about inventing some new energy sources clean and applicable everywhere Greta? The end result is 1 star Which frankly is very generous for this original ish but pointless rant collectionLast summer climate scientist Johan Rockström and some other people wrote that we have at most three years to reverse growth in greenhouse gas emissions if we’re going to reach the goals set in the Paris AgreementOver a year and two months have now passed and in that time many other scientists have said the same thing and a lot of things have got worse and greenhouse gas emissions continue to increase So maybe we have even less time than the one year and ten months Johan Rockström said we have leftIf people knew this they wouldn’t need to ask me why I’m so ‘passionate about climate change’If people knew that the scientists say that we have a 5 per cent chance of meeting the Paris target and if people knew what a nightmare scenario we will face if we don’t keep global warming below 2°C they wouldn’t need to ask me why I’m on school strike outside parliament c People know that Greta They aren't illiterate dolts unlike what you thinkBecause if everyone knew how serious the situation is and how little is actually being done everyone would come and sit down beside us c Right Because so many things are solved by sitting down in the middle of the street I'm kidding Spoiler they never are You have to get your ass up and do things invent cleaner energy and implement it afterwards everywhere Have fun notWhen I was about eight years old I first heard about something called climate change or global warming c You shouldn't have stopped developing your skills at that point Today you would've been able to make sense and maybe some impact In 2 years you'll be 18 adult and no one will think you cutesy any They'll just relabel you to well problematic and will be done with you I think in many ways that we autistic are the normal ones and the rest of the people are pretty strange c There are no normal people Whatever spectrum or neuromake upIf the emissions have to stop then we must stop the emissions c No shit Sherlock How? How would you effing live without the computer you printed this BS on without shoes you wear without sandwitches you eat without trains and boats and planes and cars and everything you use to move from point A to point B without the meds that help you or not Try growing some grain to make it into bread and you'll see what's wrong with this idea and why it's so stupidEither we go on as a civilization or we don’t Either we choose to go on as a civilization or we don’t c We aren't much of a civilization frankly If an illiterate teen is made into some saint maybe we should just stop existing and pave the way to some intellectually developed civilisation? I say either Greta goes to school finally or we don't How about that? Civilization strike anyone? Are we evil?No of course not c Of course we are Don't kid yourselfNo one is acting as if we were in a crisis I don’t want you to be hopefulI want you to panicI want you to feel the fear I feel every day c So we are supposed to act like we are in some crisis? Like scream and run randomly about doing nothing? Is that the illustrious course of action we are supposed to undertake? Even most green politicians and climate scientists go on flying around the world eating meat and dairy c Even your sailors doSome people say that I should study to become a climate scientist so that I can ‘solve the climate crisis’ But the climate crisis has already been solvedWe already have all the facts and solutions All we have to do is to wake up and change cOptimistic much You're misinformed Greta Go learn some Georgaphy and Economics and Physics There are no viable generally applicable solutions But I think that if a few children can get headlines all over the world just by not going to school for a few weeks imagine what we all could do together if we wanted to c Get a billion of headlines or what? The real power belongs to the people c Too bad it's not brainpowerWe know that most politicians don’t want to talk to us Good we don’t want to talk to them either We want them to talk to the scientists instead c Finally Some practioners needed not theoreticians You basically need to change everything in our economies And you don't need to talk about climate You need to talk about how our billions of people can live without changing it There's the rub I write my own speeches I often ask for input I also have a few scientists that I freuently ask for help on how to express certain complicated matters c Uh huh So large chunks of this stuff are what adults tell her During the last six months I have travelled around Europe for hundreds of hours in trains electric cars and buses repeating these life changing words over and over again But no one seems to be talking about it c Actually people are It would have been nature oriented not to do thatWe children are not sacrificing our education and our childhood for you to tell us what you consider is politically possible in the society that you have created c Go and create a better one Be my guest Avoiding climate breakdown will reuire cathedral thinking We must lay the foundation while we may not know exactly how to build the ceiling c That's a very bad analogy York Minster Cathedral? 252 years to build? Sagrada Famiglia? Work in progress since 1882? If so we are doing just fine with the climate relax? We are thinking uite cathedrally already stumbling about at random

Greta Thunberg Ê No One Is Too Small to Make a Difference Book

No One Is Too Small to Make a DifferenceThe history making ground breaking speeches of Greta Thunberg the young activist who has become the voice of a generation'Everything needs to change And it has to start today'In August 2018 a fifteen year old Swedish girl Greta Thunberg decided not to go to school one day Her ac 2020 UPDATEBack in mid 2019 I had posted this review and gotten uite a lot of negative comments on it I was just deleting the comments but now I've decided to save myself the trouble and just try to respond to some typical complaints from people here; I am taking five university classes right now the commute is terrible and frankly I don't have the time to be going along every day trying to explain to angry people why I'm not a fan of this book So I'll try here One thing I am NOT going to do is delete my rating I don't care if people disagree with my views or not but the idea that people are getting so volatile over this little book is simply ridiculous I'm entitled to my opinion and you to yours However we are all adults here I presume and there is no reason to be rudeFurther 2020 Late January UpdateYes I delete all the comments on this review I'm not trying to be a coward about it I also delete comments praising me or agreeing with me I started deleting comments because they were piling up and many were vulgar disgusting bordering on inappropriate to the point where a GR moderator would have come along at some point and deleted them anyway I'm not personally interested in a debate least of all with people who think that mud slinging and ad hominem attacks are the right way to go about defending their causeNo I did not post this review for attention In case anybody wasn't aware some likes on a review doesn't exactly make me Kim Kardashian I don't get any attention out of this review really Nothing substantive enough so as to make me post something controversial deliberately just for that reasonNo I am not a conservative libertarian for attention either to the guy who decided to go and read my GR profile for whatever reason Come visit my country where they are banning guns and single use plastics taxing carbon bringing in presumed consent legislation for organ donation and giving 50 million in taxpayers' dollars to Mastercard and you will understand why I am a conservative libertarian It is not for attention or for the sake of being controversial It is to stand up for my values and liberties which my own country is treading on Before you accuse me of just seeking bad attention by having a controversial political stance get to know my situation firstFinally to the commenter who stated that I was hating on a child and you look forty years old I think you're being rather silly there's only a four year age difference between Greta and myself I do not hate her nor is criticism hating on somebody; fragile people are so cumbersome and I'm well aware that my appearance leaves a lot to be desired I have autism spectrum disorder fibromyalgia and chronic insomnia I can stay awake for days; I have to take drugs at night so that I can actually sleep so I won't miss my university courses these things are simply something that I've learned to cope with I don't really care what you think I look like Looking forty years old means nobody ever asks for my ID at the liuor store Booze and Canadian government offered pot anyone? 😎Yes I've sold my soul to Satan Better Satan than the almighty Greta Thunberg Any uestions???First of all in response to the biggest complaint I've gotten on this review no I didn't rate No One Is Too Small to Make a Difference 1 star simply due to the fact that I personally disagree with radical climate initiatives and that I am apathetic to climate change To clear up a few things no I am not some bumpkin living in the redneck backwoods with a MAGA hat on and a shotgun under my bed I come from uite a liberal scientifically intelligent and well educated family My grandfather is a retired university professor who studied environmental sciences genetics and biology My parents are both liberal they both studied sciences in university and they raised me to listen to science I am not a climate change denier nor am I against environmentalism I applaud youth activists like Autumn Peltier and Boyan Slat you know young people who have actually brought forth real solutions for the planet not just made doomsday prophecies I am anti socialist in most respects and anti communist in all respects I am a conservative libertarian Typically I try not to talk about my own political stance but apparently I am expected to be explaining my stance lest people believe I am an unlearned inbred hillbilly who is out to get the planetSecondly no I do not hate Greta Thunberg as a person I have never even met her I am not jealous of her frankly there's very little to be jealous of there no offence nor do I hate her because she is autistic I happen to be in the same boat as she is as are my mother and little brother I have personal issues with her becoming the face of autism awareness and going on about aspie power as if that will reduce the stigma any asperger's is a term connected to a Nazi doctor there is evidence that he collaborated in the murder of children with disabilities under the Third Reich and many autistic people find aspie to be patronizing but all things considered I don't hate Greta Thunberg She hasn't done anything to me and for all her talk she hasn't brought forth anything so extreme on a global scale so as to impact me It was good ol' Trudeau who dumped a carbon tax on my country not Greta Thunberg I have bigger fish to fry than Greta Who knows? Climate change views aside we might even get along to some extent if we happened to meet though I'm sure we would blatantly disagree on uite a few things I am twenty one years old I'm not some angry baby boomer We're close in age and I once had very similar views on climate change as she did when I was in high schoolI'll give you my disposable plastic drinking straws when you pry them from my cold dead hands though 😈Seriously though let's kick the politics to the curb for a minute and take the book for what it is a book on Goodreads a book review website No One Is Too Small to Make a Difference is poorly written in my opinion extremely repetitive and I find it bizarre how so many people want it to have nothing less than a 5 star rating simply because they support its message about climate change I'm not going to give a book with formatting issues rambling repetition and a one sided viewpoint a 5 star review simply because a child wrote it which she didn't; she may have made these speeches herself but she didn't compile them here It's also not really a book It's of a lengthy pamphlet or one of those fake book stocking stuffers they sell as novelties around the holidays I've never given something like that five stars before especially if it has nothing new or groundbreaking to say Politically specific I take issue with the fact that Greta proposes no real solutions While I'm aware in general that she believes we should all abstain from fossil fuels and go vegan maybe when pigs fly; did I mention I'm also a speciesist? this book in and of itself is one big temper tantrum and panic attack She says that people have the capacity to change she plays the blame game but she doesn't promote any unifying compromise or realistic ideas and her understanding of diplomacy and economic variances is limited at best Not that an environmental activist necessarily has to be well versed in politics as a must have but it's definitely unwise to downplay or ignore the economy and politics within the broader issue here and over it reflects a lack of humility or understandingMy point is anybody can open their mouth and say something Anybody can get loud and shout Hell people get famous these days just for trying on makeup or filming their dog doing something stupid so even fame isn't such a special concept any If you are saying nothing of substance and wanting others to do everything to make you happy that's your fault not the world's Putting such an abysmal attitude into a book format does not make for good reading What bothers me the most about No One Is Too Small to Make a Difference is that it is the work of an over privileged child who chose on purpose to forego school lucky enough to be born in one of the most socially progressive countries in the world with a well off family who appears to care about her and she has the audacity to tell all of us other people how to live and how to think I've been poor and I've met others far worse off than I have ever been I don't need somebody else to tell me that I'm still not doing enough is taking a public bus every day shopping locally planting trees and recycling still not enough? I do all of those things and but oh cruel fate I still use plastics sometimes and buy fast food I don't need this over privileged spoiled teenage girl's advice because she's out of touch with both the environment and with society Greta sharing her fears about the planet is not so much the issue here More power to her if she believes in something Less power to her if she's going to be such a hypocrite and fancy herself the one who gets to look down her nose at everybody else when she has no way of understanding their individual circumstances Less power to her if her publishers are going to release something as repetitive and badly formatted as this while pushing it as the voice of a generation not my generation Why anybody would expect that I should or would give a positive review to a book that is or less one long high horse is totally beyond me I am sure that this new update which I am hoping better sums up my problem with this book will still generate many complaints and people biting my head off for criticizing it in the first place but life is too short to be so angry To all of you who feel the need to post a comment scolding me for my views on this book all I have to say to you is if you truly felt so secure about your own values and opinions why would you even feel any need to draw further attention to mine? Surely if you believe your views are solid and have stronger legs to stand on you don't need to waste your time nitpicking over this book review do you? I do not hate Greta's devotion or frustration I also do not think she deserves to be bullied or harassed by grown adults who find it amusing to mock her as a person just because they don't like her stance on climate change I think that Greta is probably uite intelligent for her age but has now become the face of a movement that simply can't stand on its own two feet I dread for her that she will always be typecast for lack of a better word as the climate change girl and it won't be cute and uirky or inspiring when she's my age I also think that if she wants people who are right leaning like me to listen to her she needs to keep her movement apolitical and not so focused on self sacrifice Those of us who value individual liberty will never even give her the time of day after reading this book of hers simply because it's a small manual on why we need to stop living for the sake of surviving which in itself is a bizarre way to beHere's a novel idea Let's all just agree to disagree and act our ages What do you say?I heard a great song once that just about sums up my entire stance on Greta Thunberg and climate change and on the many speeches in this book You worry too much you make yourself sadYou can't change fate but don't feel so badEnjoy it while you can It's just like the weatherSo uit complaining brother No one lives foreverI'm so happy dancing while the Grim ReaperCuts Cuts Cuts but he can't get meI'm as clever as can be and I'm very uick but don't forgetWe've only got so many tricksNo one lives foreverYou think you've got it rough?
