For the past year Lance has been on the move keeping her head down and keeping out of trouble until she reaches a tiny town in Texas Trouble finally corners her when Lance is forced to take action to save another woman's. This is the first book I’ve read by Geonn Cannon and it won’t be the last He has a very engaging writing style and amazing ability to keep all his ducks in a row so to speak The story is told in third person and from three or four point of views however the majority of the story unfolds through the eyes of our leading lady Claire Lance I love stories told from than one point of view especially when done right Geonn pulled it off well There was no head hopping and therefore I never became confused over whose head I was supposed to be in Each character plays a very distinct part in this captivating storyThe plot is like four stories in one each closely connected to the other Claire and the occasional back flashes to her ex something that complimented the story without overwhelming it Gwen and her despicable abusive husband Roy Roy and his bandits doing unlawful things And Detective Faye Mallory bent on vengeance but whyWhen Claire stops in town to have her car repaired her world implodes around her Unable to just stand back and watch she jumps to Gwen’s defense when the woman’s husband starts laying into her with his fists And so begins the tale of two women on the run They literally run for their lives with Roy’s cronies closing in on them from one side and Detective Mallory and her love interest Ranger Lazareva closing in from the other side Murder and mayhem literally ensueI had no clue how everything was going to come together and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out The stakes were stacked so high I started to worry everything would fall apart at the end Thankfully that didn’t happen While this story doesn’t end with a traditional happily ever after the last page made me grin from ear to ear and say “Bloody brilliant give me ” For me the ending was perfectI highly recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful story with a mixed cast unpredictable and a little bit of sexy time Copy provided in exchange for an honest review

Tilting at WindmillsLife Suddenly she finds herself in over her head blood on her hands and on the run with the woman she is protectingCan Lance survive being forced to revisit the life she thought she had left behind and to reopen old wound. A good startBook 1 of a series and it feels it will definitely pull me all the way through A underdog missjudged resourceful main character a underappreciated and mistreated supporting character A driven but unjust and misguided persuer with a supporting character that has left me hopes she'll guide the persuer on the right track eventually Instead of triggering me there was plenty of opportunities to do that the whole lot works well actually and I read the whole book im a dayRecommending

I've waited two years for this book to finally come out in ebook format How ironic that it took the sad closing of its publisher PD publishing before the ebook version became available The good news isthe author has published the seuel Only Flame and Air at the same time no waiting for a year or two This book did not disappoint I read Geonn Cannon primarily for the action But this is one and only book where he excels even in the angst department He manages to capture the desperation of all the lead characters the suspense of the chase and the incredible relationship of Claire and Elaine An reviewer said that Geonn writes the women in this book like they're men and misses the emotional bonds In the Underdogs or the Riley Parra series perhaps but not here This is his most emotional and sensitive book to date
